Are your products manufactured in Canada?

Yes. All of our products are manufactured in our own production facility located in Toronto, Canada.

From where do you import your ingredients?

Most of our raw materials are either purchased here in Canada or are imported from the United States. However, raw materials are often purchased through brokers which can make it more difficult to determine the original source. As a precautionary measure, all of our ingredients, purchased from any country, are laboratory tested to ensure both purity and potency and to confirm that they meet or exceed Canadian health and regulatory guidelines.

Can Progressive products be taken with prescription medications?

We highly recommend that you consult with your health care practitioner for appropriate guidance on herb/nutrient-drug interactions.

Why are many products not recommended for pregnant or lactating women?

This is a precautionary measure. There currently is not enough clinical research to support the use of products that contain herbal extracts for pregnant or nursing mothers.

Do you sell your products directly to consumers?

No. Our products are sold through traditional health food retailers across Canada and the United States.  Please use our store locator to find the one nearest to you.

Are your products free of allergens such as soy, gluten, dairy, yeast, nuts, etc.?

We choose our ingredients very carefully and attempt to minimize the use of any potentially allergenic substance whenever possible. However, although our manufacturing facility is nut free, we do produce other products that contain dairy, soy and corn.

Which of your products are gluten free?

What is the nutritional information per serving?

Each serving (8.5 grams) contains 47 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 3 grams of protein, 3 grams of carbohydrates, 2.5 grams of fiber and 0.5 grams of sweetener.

Is it gluten free?

No. VegeGreens® contains wheat grass, oat bran, barley and amylase (an enzyme derived from wheat bran).

Should it be refrigerated?

VegeGreens® does not require refrigeration however it should be kept in a cool, dry place.

Can children take this product?

VegeGreens® is designed for adults aged 19 and older.  There is not enough research to support the use of herbal extracts in children.

What is the ORAC value?

Each serving provides approximately 5,000 units of ORAC.

What does ORAC mean?

The latest scientific standard for measuring the antioxidant properties of food is in ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) units.  ORAC measures the total antioxidant capacity of a food or nutrient and can help us to understand its antioxidant strength.

What are antioxidants?

Antioxidants are intimately involved in the prevention of cellular damage -- the common pathway for cancer, aging, and a variety of diseases.  The role of antioxidants is to interact with free radicals and "quench" them, or render them harmless before vital organs are damaged.

What kind of antioxidant protection does PhytoBerry® offer?

It is important to understand that our individual organs and internal systems have unique antioxidant requirements.  Often times an organ is best protected by a botanical nutrient that may only have a modest ORAC score.  A higher ORAC nutrient that is less supportive of that organ may have a higher score but will not be able to offer the same level of protection.  PhytoBerry® offers whole body antioxidant protection by using a harmonized and synergistic combination of nutrients that in concert target and protect each organ and key body system.  The efficacy of PhytoBerry® is a result of a comprehensive blend of over 40 ORAC rich fruit concentrates phytonutrients, essential fatty acids and essential oils.  The collective action of all the nutritionally complex ingredients in PhytoBerry® creates a much more potent effect than the sum of its individual components.

Why is there organic cane juice powder, won’t the berries make it sweet?

Taste is a one of the primary concerns when developing a comprehensive product like PhytoBerry®.  While berry extracts sound delicious, some are actually quite bitter and have a very strong aftertaste. This problem is complicated by the addition of the complementary phytonutrients, herbal extracts, EFAs and essential oils. They are critical to the effectiveness of the product, but none of them taste good. In fact, the active components by themselves are almost undrinkable, so a flavour system had to be added to improve PhytoBerry®’s palatability.

However, the criteria for the sweeteners and flavour system were quite specific. It had to be synergistic, free of any artificial ingredients and completely compatible with the active ingredients.  The entire family of Progressive Nutritional Therapies® products are energetically tested to ensure that all of the ingredients are balanced and in harmony with each other as well as with consumers.  The flavour system for PhytoBerry® was held to these same standards.

Sweeteners present the greatest challenge with any energetically tested product because they often throw the entire formula out of balance. When selecting the ingredients for the PhytoBerry® flavour system, we began with over 30 potential natural sweeteners. The combination that proved most compatible with the other ingredients was a blend of organic cane juice powder, stevia leaf extract and natural berry flavour.

The flavour system accomplished its goal: PhytoBerry® has a clean, refreshing taste and designed to be added to water only - there is no need to include juice. In fact, a serving of PhytoBerry® contains only 1/3rd of the amount of sugar that you would find in a glass of fruit juice.

Can diabetics take this product?

We recommend PhytoBerry® capsules. It does not contain any added sweetener for anyone concerned about carbohydrate intake.

Can children take this product?

The original PhytoBerry® is designed for adults aged 19 and older because there is not enough research to support the use of herbal extracts in children.  Look for our brand new addition to the family – PhytoBerry® for Kids!
