    vegessential recipes for winter

Brighten up those long, dark, dreary winter days with these wonderful VegEssential recipes for winter, full of germ-fighting ingredients. If it's delicious, nutritious, and fights off those winter colds, could we ask for anything better?

    Healthy Winter Smoothie

Spice up those dull winter days! The cayenne pepper gives it a little kick that also offers lots of health benefits.

    • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
    • 1/2 avocado
    • 1/2 small frozen banana
    • 1 handful of baby spinach (or kale)
    • 2 cups water
    • 1 tbsp. cocoa powder
    • 1 tbsp. raw honey
    • Pinch of cayenne
    • 1 scoop of Natural Berry VegEssential

Puree until it's smooth. Replace the water with ice if you like it extra frosty.

This next smoothie is also spicy, but this time that kick comes from equally good-for-you fresh ginger. The vibrant color comes from berries - hard to believe it's also full of spinach!

    Ginger & Spinach Winter Smoothie

    • 1 cup organic frozen berries (blueberries or a mixture)
    • 2 cups fresh spinach
    • 2 cups water
    • 1/4 inch fresh gingerroot, or to taste
    • 1 scoop of Natural Berry or Vanilla VegEssential

Grate the ginger in the blender, add the rest of the ingredients, and blend until smooth.

Drink this next smoothie if you feel a cold coming on. It's loaded with vitamin C!

    Cold Buster Smoothie

    • 1/2 cup orange juice
    • 1/2 cup cranberry juice
    • 1 banana
    • 1 scoop of Natural Vanilla or Unflavoured VegEssential

Blend everything together. A frozen banana will make it nice and cold - good for a sore throat.

The last smoothie we have for you has some healthy ingredients, but we've included it mostly because it's extra delicious. After all, what's good for our spirits is sometimes good for our body, too!

    Banana Nut Winter Smoothie

    • 1 banana, frozen
    • 1 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
    • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
    • 1 tsp. honey, or to taste
    • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    • 1 scoop of Natural Vanilla or Unflavoured VegEssential
    • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg

Blend everything except the nutmeg until smooth. Pour into a glass and sprinkle with nutmeg. Using toasted nuts makes it extra yummy.
